Interior design can be harder, at least for me, than is the architectural design. I can visualize traffic patterns, and how light flows through doors and windows, but for me lighting is a real toughie. I spend hours laying out light placement and type, and then how many lights on various switches. I find it very time-consuming. So hard to change once the sheetrock goes on.So over the dining table this is the third light I have tried. I liked one quite a bit, but when my wife saw it she shook her head and said apartment-grade. The next was ultra mod, which she said was so not me she wondered if I was the same person. So I tried something combining traditional with unique, and this chandelier looks really good.The black is fine, but I normally change the color of a great many things I use in design. I use car spray paint and come up with some beautiful fixtures. I have no doubt this will be changing as well, and likely will be something closer to a pewter by the time I am done. The nice thing about doing it that way is if you tire of a fixture, many times simply changing the color gives it a completely different character. But this light looks quite nice even without altering the color.The one thing I don't like is that I rejected a four-light chandelier because it wouldn't put out enough light with only four bulbs. So I thought the six-bulb light would be better. I probably should have used my brain a bit more, since the four-light allowed 60w bulbs (4x60=240 watts). This light only allows 40w bulbs (6x40=240 watts). They could have used a little heavier wire and then increased the bulb wattage, but I will have to make due. I have multiple canned lights in the room, so if I want to blind people I can. It is a nice chandelier, and comes pretty much assembled, other than folding out the arms.
