This is not a project for the feint of heart. As you can see the instructions are basically useless. However, I enjoy DIY projects, and I have wanted one of these chandelier's ever since I saw Chihuly's origonal masterpiece. The hardware that came with it looked cheap, so we replaced it with another. Let's be real... the beauty is in the glass, not the frame, lights, or mounting hardware. I was prepared to scrap it all and just use the glass when I bought it. The shipping was super fast. It came in 3 days. 4 pieces were broken in shipping but it's just a huge assortment of glass pieces and we had plenty to assemble it. It's very hard to mount as you would expect being made of a ton of very delicate hand blown glass wired precariously to a frame. Its heavy, fragile, and big. Its so large you really can only put this size in a room with high ceilings. We had to rent scaffolding in order to mount it. It took us 3 adults. I wouldn't attempt this with less than 3 adults. In terms of how you wire it... just hang the frame from something high, and then treat the pieces as Christmas tree ornaments and just keep putting them up and fill in bald spots until it's random/filled.For the price, and what you get... 5 stars. Would I personally recommend it to a friend? If they are craft or DIY oriented, determines, or willing to hire someone... then absolutely. But I could see some folks finding this to be a nightmare project. Me personally, I had a blast and am thrilled with it. I'd also suggest it not be your only source of light in the room. A big room the scale required, will be too dark if this is your only light source.
