When I opened the box and saw all the pieces, I almost sent it back. But then two girlfriends offered to help me and we ended up having a couple wine working sessions and made it a group project (in addition to my electrician who connected the fixture to the junction box in the ceiling).It takes some time to peel the film off the gold pieces (get extra surgical gloves to prevent finger prints) - we used wooden cuticle sticks to push the film from the edge of each piece. This process took 3 people about 2 hours. Again, wine and friends made this seem less daunting.The crystal pieces didn't require additional preparation but I went ahead and washed them in a vinegar/water bath to remove any factory lint. I used a smooth glassware cloth to dry them. This process took about an hour.I have 9' ceilings and so a 3-step ladder was perfect for attaching all the pieces. This process is best with at least two people as you have to alternate the length of both crystal and gold pieces so having someone who can hand them to you is helpful. The crystals are attached with a flexible length of gold that you can squeeze with your fingers. I was a little confused with how to do this, but the vendor sent me a quick video demo.Overall, the fixture took about 8 hours to fully install and assemble so if you aren't willing to invest the time, this probably isn't a good buy. However, I'm really glad I stuck it out as the fixture looks amazing. I also installed a dimmer and used a daylight bulb.My wife purchased this chandelier and at first I was a little concerned due to the comments I read on assembly. But in reality, I am amazed at how nice it is and assembly is tedious but not really too bad.They did a great job of packaging however a couple of crystals still arrived damaged. But it was no big deal as that did not prevent installation. Plus their customer service response and delivery of replacement crystals was extremely fast and impeccable. Overall the end result is well worth it! I highly recommend this one, oh and we chose 40 watt LED warm lights at 2700 Kelvin; beautiful golden hue.Many pieces were scratched or chipped or scratchedSo disappointed! As soon as I opened the box, I saw that the gold frame and the chain were so cheap looking and a very bright shiny gold colour. I could also tell by the multitude of pieces that it would take a long time to put together. I didn’t want to risk it, knowing that I probably wouldn’t keep it anyway. So, I sealed the box back up without taking anything out and sent it back. Serves me right for trying to find a chandelier on Amazon!
